Overnight Trip To Strawberry Fields Together

This trip was totally unplanned. The night before my birthday, my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to overnight somewhere the following night. He didn’t need to ask me twice. I love it when we are spontaneous!! I got cracking right away and found that a property that I’d been eyeing- Strawberry Fields Together in Robin’s Bay, St. Mary, was available. I had been to Strawberry Fields Together before, but only on day trips.

When I called the next morning, the room I was set on (Love Nest) wasn’t available. However another, stand-alone cottage, Dream Maker was.

Getting There

So after work on Friday off we went. After exiting the Junction road, bear left at the roundabout and westwards into St. Mary. Less than 10 minutes later you will come upon the turn off for Robin’s Bay. It’s a good thing I’d been there before or we honestly may have missed it in the night.

Where I stayed

Once we got there, we were given our keys, and then we made our way over to our cottage.

Staying in the Dream Maker cottage was awesome. It is on a part of the property where you have no immediate neighbouring guests. We kept the doors open during the night and the combination of the sea breeze and crashing waves was so soothing. There is no TV, and I had an excellent night’s sleep.

I woke up early and watched the sunrise slowly streaking across the horizon. I took these pictures while still in bed. I did not want to get up. Can you blame me?

There is a restaurant on property, however we were leaving at that funny time when breakfast is over, but the preparations for done-to-order lunches aren’t yet complete. We decided not to wait as we knew we could find something on the road

After settling up our bill and checking out, we started to chit chat with Everton, one of the proprietors. He then took us on an impromptu mini-tour of the property. We even went up to one of the new cottages (under construction at the time).

We also got to tour of some of the other rooms that were vacant. Each room/cottage has  unique design and décor. You may have picked up by now that I’m partial to a rustic vibe and so this appealed to me greatly. Love Nest was my favourite ( and where I had wanted to stay originally). I will definitely be back.

I think the property also would provide a lovely backdrop for a rustic chic wedding in Jamaica.

They usually offer an ATV tour and hike to a hidden waterfall. However that was on hiatus while we were there, as Everton was focusing on supervising the construction. A friend of mine went on the hike to Kwame Falls since we visited and I have borrowed one of her photos.

What I did

I wasn’t really in the mood to swim, but wouldn’t have minded sunning on a beach for a bit. Due to some high winds the night before, the beach at Strawberry fields wasn’t as hospitable for what I had in mind. So we decided to hit the road in the direction of Ocho Rios.

We had lunch at a rest stop named Buccaneer’s Jerk and Juice. I had some BBQ ribs. They were very reasonably priced and tasted great. Stef had the pork and that was also well done. I would stop by there again if in the area.

We passed by James Bond beach in Oracabessa and considered stopping by for a while, but I’m not sure why; I just wasn’t feeling it that day.

From Oracabessa, we ended up taking a drive uphill to Firefly, a property that used to be owned by famed author Noel Coward. We just to had a look around and took in the view.

We ended up in Ocho Rios and made a few stops before heading back to town.
